CubbyEd Privacy Policy

CubbyEd ("CubbyEd," "we," "us") provides a classical education learning app for K‑12 students, teachers, and parents. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. CubbyEd is directed in part to children, and we have designed it to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and, when used by schools, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Information we collect

Account information. Name (or first name), email address, role (student, teacher, or parent), and grade level. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email those services provide.
Learning activity. Lessons viewed, quiz and game results, mastery progress, and similar educational usage needed to operate the product and show progress.
Subscription status. Whether a Family plan is active. Payments are processed by Apple In‑App Purchase (iOS) or Stripe (web); CubbyEd never receives or stores full payment card numbers.
Diagnostic data. Limited technical/crash information to keep the app working.

We do not collect precise geolocation, we do not use third‑party advertising or behavioral tracking, and we do not sell or rent personal information.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

For child users, CubbyEd collects only the information reasonably necessary for an educational activity. When CubbyEd is used through a school, the school acts as the parent's agent and provides consent for the collection of student information for educational purposes. When used by a family, the parent or guardian who creates or supervises the account provides consent. We do not condition a child's participation on disclosing more information than is reasonably necessary, and we do not use children's data for advertising or profiling.

How we use information

To provide lessons, track mastery, and personalize learning.
To authenticate sign‑in and maintain the account.
To process and restore subscriptions.
To maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix problems.

Service providers

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions) to run the service, Apple and Google for optional sign‑in, and Apple In‑App Purchase and Stripe for subscription billing. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments and are not permitted to use children's data for their own purposes.

Data retention and deletion

We keep account and learning data only as long as the account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (account menu → "Delete account"). You may also email us at the address below to request deletion. Deletion is permanent.

Schools (FERPA)

When a school uses CubbyEd, student records are handled as educational records under the school's direction. CubbyEd uses school data only to provide the service to that school and does not sell it or use it for advertising.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted, and authentication is handled by established providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your choices and rights

Parents, eligible students, and schools may review, correct, or delete personal information, and may withdraw consent by deleting the account. Contact us for help exercising these rights.

Changes

We will update this page and the "Last updated" date when this policy changes, and provide notice in‑app for material changes.
